Sturdy virtual reality goggles for phones (Remix)
thingiverse
My remix of Croccy22's Virtual Reality Headset. My friends just joked with me about calling it "viggeEyezzZ", so I added an optional nametag using Kitlaan's plant tag customiser. The rest of the parts are downloadable from the original author at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:93460. Will this fit my phone? Yes, it will probably fit if you have a 4" screen or larger. A 4.7" screen, such as an iPhone 6, fits perfectly. If in doubt, Will this fit my head? Print out the "Sections Through" file created by MattCook to check if it will fit: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:485129. If not, print out the big head version at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:134496. What software do I need? There are plenty of apps on both iOS and Android that you can find by searching for "virtual reality" or "google cardboard". What's new in this remix? More structural strength is added, as I found mine to constantly break near the chin. A spacer was also designed to move the screen 1cm away from your face for clearer vision. A video demonstrates the headset tracking using one of the available apps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyDQ6UtXElw. Instructions: Print without supports! I printed mine at 0.4mm layer height, 40% infill, and a speed of 70mm/sec. Temperature settings may vary with different printers and filaments, but my setup included a bed temperature of 70°C and an extruder temperature of 200°C. The print took approximately three hours, costing 130 grams of filament.
