Sturdy Desk Drinking Glass holder for Tonor microphone arm
prusaprinters
Last Sunday, I was streaming on twitch and - after being scared ingame - accidentally threw my nearly full glass over my laptop. To prevent near heart strokes in the future, I decided to do something about it. A friend suggested to get a drinks holder from IKEA, but why do we have 3D Printing? The requirements were simple:must be stable enough to hold approx 500gmust not need assemblymust prevent against accidentally putting the glass in banked so that it could fall outmust prevent build-up of condensation at the bottom (=no pit or bowl design)must be tall enough to ensure safe stand for the drink, but not too tall so that the glass disappears in it and is hard to retrievebreaking between layers must not automatically flood the floormust leave room in the holding bracket to route my Microphone USB cables throughmust be compatible with my TONOR microphone armThe last point means that you can basically just hang this holder onto the pentagon-shaped tonor foot. The desk clamp fits neatly into the cutout of the holder, allowing the holder to rest against the steel clamp for added stability. The low center of gravity (which gets lower when you add a drink) means that the holder stays in place without any glue or tape.To print it I suggest you print it right side up with supports everywhere. That allows for the top shape to come out nicely. Because the cup holding part is dived in three “columns”, breakage of any one of those pillars should not cause your drink to be spilled on the ground, adding to resilience.I printed it in black PETG because both the Microphone arm and my table are near black, but the color is as always up to taste. I recommend PETG over PLA here due to the water resistance of this material as opposed to e.g. PLA (now I dare you to print this piece in PVA 🤣)Print is small enough to fit on a 200mm printer.FreeCAD RealThunder Source file as always included.
