Sturdy 2x4 Enclosure for Prusa Mk3
thingiverse
This enclosure may not be the prettiest, but it gets the job done. Mostly made from readily available materials like 2x4s and 3/4 plywood in my shop. Keep in mind that the dimensions were specifically designed for a Prusa i3 Mk3. If you're using another printer, you'll need to adjust your measurements accordingly. The structure is built around 2x4s with plywood serving as shelves and the top of the printer. I picked up some 1" foam panels from my local hardware store to make it easy to add ventilation or punch holes for cords where needed. To prevent overheating, I installed a thermostat-controlled fan unit. Another safety feature is a Haven fire system above, since I often print when I'm not at home. The printed parts include a simple vent that can be opened and closed, a filament holder using common 3/4" dowels found at the hardware store, all printed in ABS or PLA with standard settings of .2. A magnetic tool holder and some leveling feet make this enclosure incredibly sturdy. Included is a PDF with basic dimensions, but note that the drawing is just a template and not fully complete.
