Studzienka (rząp, beczka) WATER CONTAINER
sketchfab
Studzienka - a public water well located near the current ul. Grodzkiea 16, on the old square next to the Lublin Cathedral of St. Michael. The well had a diameter of approximately 1.2 meters and a height of about 1 meter. Its shape was like a barrel tightened at the bottom by a metal ring (4), while from above it had wooden rings (8). Water was fed into the barrel through a wooden pipe (1) that supplied it. In its upper part, there were two openings. The first contained a wooden plug called a lid (3) through which water flowed from the pipe into the barrel. The second opening, made at an angle of 60 degrees and tapering downwards (2), served to close off the flow of water from the pipe to the well. As water flowed in, the lid rose up and then fell back down when the pressure in the well was sufficient. A wooden walkway led from the cathedral to the well, paved with wooden planks.
