The first sculpture crafted by Henryk Kuna is a woman in a coat, expertly carved from noble ebony wood. Despite its hardness and heaviness, the artist skillfully brought out a harmoniously composed figure caught in a characteristic slight movement. The female form served as the perfect subject to allow the sculptor to develop an individual artistic language centered on soft, flowing shapes. By omitting many insignificant details from his perspective, he concentrated on creating large, smooth surfaces that accentuate the material's natural characteristics. Even minute features like hair or folds in the cloak have been infused with a subtle rhythm, visible in the naturally undulating system of the body. The expression on her face and her gesture are perplexing - it is hard to tell whether she is lost in a blissful reverie or deliberately avoiding eye contact with the viewer.
