Studio Series Brawn G1 Head and Neck Plate
cults3d
This is a replacement head and neckplate for Studio Series Bumblebee movie Brawn. It was designed with the intent of giving Brawn a more traditionally G1 head and face. Since the stock head is connected with a flat head pin to the neckplate it was decided that modeling a whole new neckplate altogether along with the head would be easiest. I've included 2 versions of the head and neckplate -- one has a simple swivel, where the head can be connected to the plate with either a M1.6 screw up to 8 mm long or nail/pin similar to how the stock toy works, and the other has a balljoint connection which can be assembled without extra hardware. This option also allows for a slight bit more articulation due to being a balljoint. To replace the stock parts with the 3D printed ones, unscrew the one screw on the hinge at the top of Brawn's back, carefully separate the parts and slide the neckplate and head from off the screw post. The parts have more flex than you'd expect, so don't worry too much about breaking the toy. Then reverse the process with the 3D printed neck plate and head. The helmet is slightly more faceted than I'd intended, but with some light sanding, that can be remedied rather easily. This is a collaboration with neurowing. He provided the initial design sketches and I modeled the head and neckplate in 3D.
