Stucco from Samarra

Extensive dadoes crafted from intricately carved stucco adorned the lower sections of walls in both palaces and private residences throughout Samarra. Only partial panels recovered from excavations were transported to Berlin. To provide visitors with a glimpse into the original interior design, a section of wall featuring original fragments was reconstructed as early as 1922. This wall, complete with niches carved above the dado, originated from a private dwelling. The dado and right niche remain intact, while the rest has been skillfully restored.
