Stryfe Alternative Top Rail - V2
thingiverse
No no no no no no NO!! After TWO failed prints - raft and no raft - I finally realized that instead of trying to avoid getting a poor lower surface over supports by risking a poor bed adhesion of a really thin section, the BEST bet was to drop the darned thing on its forward face! Last two pictures show the orientation in my slicer (S3D) and supports generated. Sometimes the light in my brain illuminates on a very gradual dimmer! Hopefully THIS time I'll get something I can use and show! Enjoy, and sorry... ___________________________________________________________________________ UPDATE - 18 Oct 2018 - V2 uploaded. V2 has been uploaded, this includes a cutout for the foresight. The original is still there for those who like to trim & grind (who doesn't). Printing will be attempted and images attached soon Check 'Misc Notes' for print orientation hints... (yes, experience caused me to add this 5 minutes after starting the print)!! Ta ___________________________________________________________________________ UPDATE - 17 Oct 2018 - Hang fire there folks (all one of you... ), printed this last night, pulled it off the bed this morning and test fitted; NOW I realize why the ORIGINAL original had a cutaway on the flip side of the rail - the foresight moulding protrudes upwards! When I get back from our nightly hospital visit I'll knock a recess in to clear the foresight - it's the preferred option to just grinding parts of your blaster away... _______________________________________________________________________ Grabbed this design the other day and ran it thru my slicer (S3D) - it had some major issues and gaps / unconnected surfaces. I don't know if this is an issue with my slicer settings, but not being one to faff, I grabbed the original BlasterforgePH model and 'fixed'. Pictures show both models in my slicer (Z0r4n's model is the upper), with slicing done, (images 2, 3 and 4) you can see the slots in the front face, missing sections on the base and - in the 4th pic - the right hand image (original again), shows the rail in 2 bits. Pic 5 identifies self intersecting surfaces too (red lines). None of these issues show in the stl, now there are no further issues I can see. Cheers and all that.
