Structural linkage among double-chain silicates
sketchfab
The defining characteristic of the structures of all amphiboles (double-chain silicates) is that they consist of (Si,Al) tetrahedra linked together to form chains which are twice as wide as those found in pyroxenes. The apical oxygens of the tetrahedra in these chains are situated below and above a ribbon of MO6 octahedra.
