Stronger mount for shock absorber on Martian Rover
thingiverse
The Martian Rover has a mounting bracket on its upper leg where the top of the shock absorber is attached. Unfortunately, the existing design puts significant stress across a small cross-section that also happens to be a layer boundary. Even with good bonding between layers, this part often breaks at this point due to excessive force. The photos demonstrate this issue clearly. This revised version replaces the original part with an alternative that doesn't apply stress across the layer boundary. However, it may not work well with smaller shock absorbers since the mounting point of the shock absorber does not protrude in the same way as before. Luckily, it works fine with my own setup. I'm aware that part 7 of the original design, which this revised part replaces, is included in the purchased parts list of the original design. Nevertheless, it's a relatively small component and this is indeed a design modification. If @repbaza isn't okay with sharing this modified version, I'll remove it from Thingiverse.
