Strong print bed glue / Print bed adhesive for ABS
thingiverse
I stumbled upon this "pull-man" while fiddling with my self-made print bed glue for ABS by accident. I recall reading in a forum discussion that UHU Stic was a good material for fixing prints on the bed, so I rummaged through my office box and found an old can of UHU Stic, which worked wonders. After exhausting the old one, I bought a new can from a shop, but to my surprise, it didn't work at all, no matter what I did. Maybe the manufacturer had changed their recipe? In another forum, someone suggested using cheap wood glue mixed with water as a bed coating, but that didn't pan out either. Then I tried powder sugar as a glue, but that failed too. When I was desperate and couldn't finish my prints, I mixed the powder sugar with the remaining wood glue in a last-ditch effort, and to my amazement, it worked perfectly. The Mixture: * 50% white wood glue (UHU original white wood glue - water solvent) * 50% powder sugar * Add droplets of water until you achieve a viscosity similar to thin salad oil I usually apply the glue with a small sponge. The glue can be easily reactivated on the print bed if it becomes too dry, by dabbing it gently with a moist sponge – even when the print bed is already hot. On my printer, I use a glass plate that's been roughened slightly with sanding paper 200. This glue works beautifully for ABS and other materials that require higher bed temperatures. To remove the parts from the bed, it helps to cool down the bed to room temperature. Usually, the parts can be easily removed at this point.
