This custom-designed bolt is engineered to be printed sideways, which significantly boosts its strength. Traditional bolts printed from the bottom up are highly susceptible to shearing in two under heavy loads due to the grain direction being misaligned. The bolt's flat surface ensures easier printing on its side. The narrow tolerance between the nut and bolt necessitates some fine-tuning to smooth out the joint, making it a bit more labor-intensive than usual. An alternative approach could be to enlarge the nut during printing, although this has yet to be tested in practice. This specially crafted bolt measures 1cm in diameter and stands approximately 4cm tall.
