A cucoloris ("cookie" because it's hard to pronounce) is a flat object that's designed to break up the light. Unlike a gobo, it's not in the middle of a lens assembly, so it's going to make diffuse and soft shadows instead of hard-edged shadows. On the other hand, a gobo assembly for a flash would require you to source lenses and everything.

If you look at the photos of people I've posted, you can see the desired effect where one of the lights has been broken up by a cookie to add visual interest.

I had slightly different design goals than your average cookie. I wanted something that would be kinda small, both to make it fit on a printer bed and print in a reasonable amount of time, but also because I'd want to toss it in my backpack and take it to a cosplay event. What I found was that the best way to get a good effect without making it bigger or using more material was to add thickness around the edges of the holes.

I wasn't overly satisfied with any of the printable brackets for mounting light modifiers, so I ended up punting on that issue by giving it a coldshoe so I could use a Neewer super-clamp arm to hold it in front of the flash.

In the photo I posted, you will note that I'm using another design from this site – the Canon Speedlight Grid that, in spite of its name, works on my TT600 flashes.

Generally you want the flash to be fairly zoomed in and you want to have the cookie angled. One of the benefits of the thickness around the holes is that you don't need to angle it very much for it to start breaking up the light.

Like most stuff I do, it's an OpenSCAD parametric design. It requires you to install the BOSL2 library, but then you can generate your own version easily or even make your own patterns.

You probably want to print this out of something black and opaque. I printed mine out of black PETG so I wouldn't need to worry about it bending in the heat. It also helps to have a fat nozzle so it'll print faster. I printed mine with a 1mm Bondtech CHT nozzle and that really helped it print in an entirely reasonable amount of time.
