String Climbing Christmas Tree takes its cue from dual spool designs found in traditional string climbers. It doesn't actually climb the string; it merely gives the illusion of doing so. Featuring nine distinct components (eleven total), String Climbing Christmas Tree requires only embroidery floss for purchase, and once assembled, utilizes the "String Climbing Mechanism" to demonstrate how these types of toys work, some dating back over 100 years. Check out a video of the prototype in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-LyBzluu74 A touch of "bling" was added by my wife. Designed using Sketchup Make 2016 and sliced with Cura, String Climbing Christmas Tree was printed in PLA on an Ultimaker 2 Extended.
