String Climbing Ball draws inspiration from the dual spool design of this innovative device: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1825987. It convincingly mimics climbing action, giving users a thrilling experience. Comprising 8 distinct parts (10 total), and requiring only embroidery floss for assembly, String Climbing Ball showcases the "String Climbing Mechanism" in action. By doing so, it sheds light on the mechanics behind traditional string climbing toys that have been delighting children for over a century. As an added bonus, the lower ring doubles as a display stand to keep your String Climbing Ball securely in place when on display, preventing it from rolling away and getting lost. A prototype video is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bZZ2xgOE84. String Climbing Ball was designed using Sketchup Make 2016 and printed in PLA on an Ultimaker 2 Extended.
