String Climbing Ball uses the dual spool design, as seen on https://www.youmagine.com/designs/string-climbing-mechanism. The String Climbing Ball doesn't actually climb string; it just seems to do so. With eight unique parts (total of ten) and embroidery floss as the only necessary purchase, the assembled String Climbing Ball puts the "String Climbing Mechanism" to use. This further shows how string climbing toys work, some over 100 years old. As an added bonus, the lower ring doubles as a display stand, keeping the String Climbing Ball from rolling away when displayed, as shown in the photograph. Designed with Sketchup Make 2016 and printed in PLA on an Ultimaker 2 Extended, the String Climbing Ball showcases its design. A video of the prototype is available here:
