Stretched Limo Anet A8 stock Spool Holder
thingiverse
The stock Anet A8 spool holder gets a luxurious upgrade by transforming it into a stretch limo version. The standard M8 type of rod is swapped out for the T8 type (500mm long, as shown). The T8 rod is identical to the Z-rod found in the Anet A8 printer. The base rail comes with multiple options: end brackets, 100mm middle brackets, and 200mm middle brackets. Each side requires two end brackets and one or more middle brackets. To accommodate end nuts, the end brackets were shortened slightly. For instance, a 300mm T8 rod needs two end brackets, along with one 200mm middle bracket per side (two sides are needed for the set). The brackets are connected using M3 screws and nuts (M3 8mm or M3 12mm). To ensure stability, additional support is necessary for the base rail. There are two types of rail supports: type 1, which snaps underneath, and type 2, which screws into the rail. If type 2 is used, longer M3 screws (possibly M3 16mm) are required. The spool holder's end brackets with small tabs can only hold a limited number of filaments at 1kg each; at least one rail support bracket is necessary. A filament guide is provided to snap onto the rail and keep the filament in place when not in use. It's suggested to use a spool holder that employs 608ZZ ball bearings (such as https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2476592). The T8 rod requires spacer and end nuts (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2512596). For longer rods, the rod support might also come in handy (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2512926). Printing: It's highly recommended to use as much infill as possible (70% or more) for the rail brackets and other pieces that can be printed with 20% or 30% fill.
