Strengthened Brompton Front Carrier
thingiverse
Hi, thanks for coming here. This is my very first public design.\r\n\r\nI remixed this from Brompton Front Carrier by Altrome after thoroughly testing different failure modes. I've finally settled on a strengthened design that has become remarkably reliable for my daily use (laptop in bag with tools and water bottle). \r\n\r\nI discovered that the earlier design tends to break at the Support because its structure is overly minimized. I've significantly improved the design at the bend, resulting in stronger load-bearing capability. Another weak point is when you make a sudden turn while cycling with a loaded bag - the carrier will have inertia in the initial direction and result in breaking at the Carrier screws. So I've completely redesigned the Carrier and the front of the Support to improve inertial loads while changing directions.\r\n\r\n(capitals refer to the names of the 3 parts in this Thing)\r\n\r\nSo far, it's the only 3D printed design that has survived cycling over road bumps with that load. Obviously, it is not as strong as the original or metal versions. If you know of another way to make it better, do share your expertise with me in the comments!
