A simple yet meaningful necklace with three key words - Strength, Wisdom, and Courage engraved on the back. I recall sketching out these small necklaces and bangles weeks before discovering this contest as a fun activity. The practice was therapeutic for me, something I had never done before. When I saw an email alerting me to this contest, I got excited and started creating pages of designs. My eyes widened in awe every time I looked at what seemed like simple jewelry, marveling at how skilled jewelers were at working with lines, shapes, and forms - it was almost comical! I soon realized that master jewelers deeply understood the "why" behind their craft, which involved hours of lectures, communication, a library of books, and studies on shapes, patterns, psychology, symbols, and their meanings. Perhaps it's easier than I thought? Maybe it's just a matter of right-brain love? Nonetheless, I'm thrilled to see a line transformed into a cosmic shape. I was intimidated by the process, but it was worth trying! Initially, my sketches featured the moon as the main theme in a pendant design, but I think this bangle has done better justice. The "why" behind this creation is simple yet profound: I wanted to convey the importance of keeping things simple and using meaningful words to evoke emotions. By observing Elle, I understood that jewelry should augment a person's physical and mental attributes, not distract from them. Jewelry can also be a symbol of power, a talisman, or something dear to the wearer, which is why I chose this message. Through introspection and my desire to acquire knowledge, I wanted to convey the strength to carry out one's will in the face of opposition. I hope that this necklace can aid women (and men) in surpassing their darkest moments - if it can inspire them, then my job is done, and this bangle is a success. This design may not be the best, but to me, it has value, perhaps one that will be improved upon in the future.
