E-NABLE volunteers Jason Briant and Nicholas Hall have developed a rigorous testing protocol to assess the durability of prosthetic hands crafted with 3D-printed components. The Strength Test Print 2 takes a Raptor Reloaded gauntlet, available at https://www.youmagine.com/designs/raptor-reloaded-by-e-nable, and its flat printed version, found at https://www.youmagine.com/designs/printed-flat-raptor-reloaded-gauntlet. They then create a cross-sectional slice of each design in the area where frequent failures occur. Gradually adding water to a suspended bucket attached to the test piece until it fails allows them to measure its strength by weighing the bucket afterwards.
