Fun and educational engineering tool for kids of all ages. Affordable, sturdy, and useful. Build structures and learn about architecture.\nExp.: Bridges, Building structures, and anything else, only limited by one's imagination.\nGreat to introduce engineering at a young age!\nPrint Settings\nPrinter: \n XYZ Davinci Jr. 1.0 Wireless\n \n Rafts: \n No\n \n Supports: \n Yes\n \n Resolution: \n Excellent or High\n \n Infill: \n 30% Honeycomb\n \n Notes: \n Supports were used so the holes for the straws don't collapse. If the small holes on the side of the brace for the paper clips don't print, the diameter is 0.04 in, so you can drill out the holes if they don't print. \nPost-Printing\nAfter Printing\n After printing, some minimal sanding is required, and a pair of needle nose tweezers are needed to pull the supports out of the holes. The tiny holes for paperclips to secure the straw may not have printed correctly and can be drilled out or poked out.\nHow I Designed This\nHow I designed this \n I designed this when I was thinking about entering a remix challenge, and I thought I could take the PVC pipe connector and make it smaller, for straws, so engineering classes can use it for building projects and all sorts of things. \n\n \n Standards \n\n \n \n NGSS \n \n CCSS \n \n \n Overview and Background\nSize Specifications\n Paperclip hole diameter: 0.04 in\nStraw hole diameter: 0.255 in\nBrace Body Square measurement: 0.355 in square\nLesson Plan and Activity\nLesson Plan/Activity\n Students will create a structure with straws in a given amount of time. The structure will hold weight, be sturdy, and show the students different patterns of architectural style. This can also be used for younger students as well.\nMaterials Needed\nMaterials Needed\n -Straws\n-Scissors\n-Sandpaper\n-Needle Nose Tweezers\n-Paperclips\n-3D printed parts (files attached above)
