Stratux ADS-B Casing
thingiverse
Hi All, First I printed the Stratux Nano Dual SDR Case by Mistertech, which I absolutely love for its layout and concept. Personally, I missed a fan because the temperature in no time reached above 70 degrees Celsius, and also wanted more space at the antenna cables. So I used Siemens NX to re-draw Mistertech's design. This case is a bit higher to gain more clearance for the fan, which is attached to the cover of the case. Also, I had a lacking GPS signal due to magnetic disturbance from the LAN connector and Radio high gain antennas. That's why I created a hole in the top shell right above the internal GPS unit within the Stratux logo. To minimize the chance of magnetically disturbing signals from the LAN connector and Radio high gain antennas, I drew an GPS shield and covered it up with copper tape, which is connected to one of the ground pins by wire. For the top of the case, I tried using "3DLAC spray adhesive" on the bedplate of the Ultimaker 3. Unfortunately, I used a bit too much, causing the top to look a bit dirty. So be gentle with it! But it prevented the edges from bending or warping. When you don't have or want to use glue spray, you can also try decreasing the bedplate temperature by +/-10 degrees Celsius. I used the same screws as Mistertech has used in his design: 2.5x8mm for the top of the case and 2.5x4mm for the Motherboard. My Stratux setup includes: Raspberry Pi 3 Motherboard Pre-programmed SD card with Stratux software Stratux 1090ES & UAT - Radios and High Gain Antennas Stratux GPYes u-blox 7 GPS unit Stratux AHRS Sensors and Fan Controller / Raspberry Pi MPU9250+BMP280 40x40x10mm fan Before I forget, the rivets are rubbish! I didn't have time to make a better design for them. So I wouldn't recommend using them. But if you use something to widen the gap, they'll hold the fan in place. Please let me know what you think of it! (Except for the poor rivet design, of course!)
