Stratos Glider

This plane is one of my older designs but it's a great flyer. If you want better models, check out my Thingiverse page at http://www.thingiverse.com/exosequitur/designs. For printing tips and tricks, grab my books 'Functional design for 3D printing' or the 'Zombie Apocalypse Guide to 3D Printing'. A full-sized variant can be found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:300168 and you can watch me in action on Video 1 and Video 2. For instructions on how to print glider wings, visit my blog at threedsy.com. Support us by purchasing a premium design from the site! Remember, your printer needs to print smoothly with no debris or curling. Adjust your first layer settings accordingly. If you have trouble with lifting prints, try the 'bearded' versions and trim them off when done. Layer height and fill ratio are crucial for success. Follow my instructions closely for the best results. After printing the Stratos using ABS at .20 layer height, assemble it with superglue. The launcher needs 3 perimeters and .35 line fill. Adjust dihedral and elevator for optimal flight performance. Add a rubber band to the launcher and enjoy! For more tips on thermalling and adjusting control surfaces, read the flight instructions carefully. You can also try adding weight to the fuselage for stability. Scale the design as needed, but ABS is recommended for best results. Share your experiences with other materials and layer heights in the comments below!
