Strati Wheel 1/10 scale - fixed for printability
thingiverse
The original text I was given does not contain any content for me to rewrite. The Strati 3D printed car is a great concept, but some flaws in its scale model files need correction. The wheels are particularly troublesome due to poor printability issues, so I took it upon myself to redesign them for better printing and customizability. To make the wheel print smoothly, I oriented it to sit flat on the bed, which solves problems with uneven distortion. The flat side now faces inside the car, a part that will not be visible when assembled. I also split the tire from the rim, enabling users to print these parts in different colors if needed. Furthermore, for printers capable of printing elastomeric materials, I can even produce realistic rubber wheels. For an easier assembly, the two-rim piece system now comes separate so users don't struggle to fit them onto the wheel. Lastly, all complicated geometry and details that wouldn't show at this print scale have been removed and made more simple, making it feasible to divide the rib sections into halves as well adding extra support. Print these three pieces out and hopefully no support will be needed afterwards. Inserting the inner rim piece snugly into the tire part should create sufficient friction for holding them together securely in place. After that just stick a tiny amount of glue on both ends of outer rim's edges so you'll know everything is put correctly, then your job's finished.
