strap buckle
thingiverse
Hey guys. I just uploaded a revised version with no bridge across the top. I think it looks better, but it's easier to open (if that's a problem for your application). It's also easier to print, as it needs a little less support to remove after. I printed this guy: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2814683 and loved it, loved the design (it's actually a remix, the original has the same design, but looks blockier), but I thought it was too long and too thick. I used it as a belt buckle for pants with a nylon belt, and it was fine until it broke (I don't think it's a design fault). When that happened, I set out to make a clip/buckle with the same mechanism, but with a totally different profile. Less futuristic, but much flatter. It works just as well as the other one, but it's flatter and honestly, I like it better (even though it looks a little more plain). The uploaded model is made for a 25mm/1 inch strap (holes have 28 mm). You can shrink the width any size you want, probably down to 30% or so, but don't touch height and thickness. By width, I mean the value that will end up fitting the width of the strap. Print as it is, with support, in ABS or something tough like that (PLA will most likely break, and will definitely deform in the dryer). Sorry, the supports kinda need cleaning up in the buckle part. You can do that with a hobby knife, maybe a thin file... Oh! Bonus. Plastic clips tend to slip on straps and loosen. I figured out how to wrap the strap that will adjust the width (the other side would be sewed on). There is a picture (ugly as hell, but it'll explain how to run the strap so it won't slip). Enjoy, and don't forget to like! It's not a wedding proposal, it's really just saying you like it. It will encourage me to make and post more stuff.
