To mitigate the problem posed by the deep waters, designers opted to create the longest suspension bridge ever built, boasting a 2-mile main span and 590-foot side spans that total an impressive 2.5 miles in length. The foundation of the main piers will be situated at a depth of 400 feet beneath the surface. A revolutionary new deck design has been patented, specifically tailored to address aerodynamic and seismic concerns. Furthermore, the bridge's aerodynamic features have been engineered to withstand winds of up to 134 miles per hour. Earthquakes, on the other hand, pose an even greater challenge, but the bridge is designed to withstand seismic forces equivalent to a magnitude 7.1 earthquake – significantly more intense than the devastating 1908 Messina earthquake that left destruction in its wake. The sole obstacle remaining is securing sufficient funding for this ambitious project, which is estimated to cost a staggering $5 billion and take 11 years to complete. This monumental bridge will be an impressive 196 feet wide, accommodating up to 12 lanes of traffic and two dedicated train lanes in the middle. This capacity will enable the transportation of 140,000 vehicles and 200 trains daily, drastically reducing transit times from a whopping 12 hours down to mere minutes.
