Strain Wave Gear

Strain Wave Gear

A compact -1:50 gear reduction based on the Strain Wave Gear principle utilized in Harmonic Drives is showcased here. This mechanism is widely employed in robotics due to its reliability. However, this project remains a work-in-progress because it cannot yet be driven by NEMA 17 motors, with the stiffness of the PLA being too low, causing flexing when the bearing presses against the flexible spline. Two 623 (ZZ) bearings are required for proper assembly. The model serves as a demonstration of the mechanism and is not suitable for high-torque applications. If you have any suggestions for improvements or would like to create a Remix, feel free to do so!
