Straightening Helper Blocks for 6mm Linear Rods
thingiverse
I purchased three 6mm linear rods from Amazon on separate occasions, but each one was slightly bent. After watching several YouTube videos and observing other manual solutions, I decided to create my own method for straightening them. With a pry bar in place under the rod, I successfully straightened all three rods within +/- 0.001 inch using patience and persistence: * I printed two clamps and attached them securely, then inserted the rod and set the dial indicator on top and a pry bar at the bottom. * Rotating the rod under the dial allowed me to identify the spot(s) that were lowest in point. * With gentle force, I prised upwards against the rod, counteracting its bend. * After testing the bend again, I repeated the process until my test revealed an acceptable error.
