Straight Rod Bracket 14mm
thingiverse
I once stumbled upon these straight rod brackets at our local recycling yard and they fit perfectly with this bison tube I had lying around, so I turned it into a geocache. I had two sets of the brackets, but I gave one set to a friend in New Zealand, thinking that I would never need them myself and that new ones were probably easy to find, right? WRONG. After almost five years of service, someone swiped the geocache from where it was hiding, so I was left high and dry. The bison tubes are roughly 14mm in diameter (some are a bit bigger) and the only brackets I can find now are either too large (19mm inner diameter) and won't fit in the Altoids tin or very expensive to get (I might have found some in the UK that charges a hefty fee for shipping). So, maybe I can 3D-print this thing? YES. The overall dimensions will be slightly larger due to the need for thicker walls and all (maybe I'll experiment with pitch 1 threads... hah), but it will get the job done. These brackets can be used for their actual purpose too, although they might not hold much weight. Only STLs are available for now, but if anyone is brave enough to try out the Fusion 360 project for it (first day using it), please let me know. If used for their actual purpose, the empty hole in the thread stud on the bracket end should probably be made solid to give a bit more strength.
