A specially designed anesthetic gas airway adapter connects an endotracheal tube to a ventilator, featuring a central channel for sampling gas. This allows monitors equipped with anesthetic gas (AG) modules and/or side-stream capnography modules to collect gas samples. This custom adapter is modified from a standard AG airway adapter, with a smaller inner diameter that reduces anatomical dead space, making it ideal for small patients such as dogs and cats. As a veterinarian, I can attest to the benefits of this design. To ensure an airtight seal in the sampling channel, a small amount of glue must be applied to the inner surface. The channel should then be inflated with high positive pressure, allowing the glue to fill any gaps between the surfaces. This process requires careful application and inflation to achieve a secure seal. When selecting a suitable adhesive, consider materials that are compatible with the printing material used for the adapter.
