Stowe Type Log

Stowe Type Log

This is an update on my "walker" type log: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:740651. I'm lucky to have borrowed a Stowe trailing log, which allows me to make this more accurate copy. The main difference now is that the fins are straight, not curved like in my previous version. The curved fins might have made the calibration speed dependent, but we won't know for sure without further testing. A real Stowe log has (I think) 8600 turns per nautical mile and features only one magnet. To get closer to the Raymarine/Airmar number of pulses per nautical mile, this version includes two magnets instead. The center screw is a 60mm M5, identical to my previous design, while the sensor remains unchanged. Two 3mm-diameter by 10mm-long magnets are used, which are less finicky than before but still require careful orientation to ensure they're installed correctly. It's crucial to verify that the magnets are facing the right direction before pushing them home securely. Furthermore, seal all connections properly to prevent water from seeping in - I personally used hot melt glue for this purpose.
