I needed a precise and symmetrical helmet with crisp, sharp edges, that could be printed without any supports. This piece is intended for wearability. How I Designed This Extensive remodelling from various source files occurred using 3ds max. A set of smoothing groups was built, then mesh smoothed everything with these to tessellate the surface while maintaining sharp corners. The inside was extruded, and all faces were relaxed to create an internal surface that supports the structure. The entire piece was sliced into radial sections to facilitate support-free printing.
