It took some time to develop a fully printable storage solution for the main game of settlers (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1238980), but finally it is here. I searched for a solution with flexible parts. There are various hex-piece options available, and I wanted my storage to fit most players' choices. The storage should work with JAWong's tiles (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:26979) and compatible bases like the one from Isolt (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1108968). The lower your tiles are, the more space will be left in the box for additional tiles. The images you see are from my first prototype (black top) and the final solution that can be downloaded. The largest pieces to print are 19.5 cm x 20.00 cm x 14.4 cm high. Make sure your printer bed is large enough. If your printer bed is too small, an alternative from shocksofmighty splits some parts: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1914044. Here are the pieces to print for the box: 2 x storage core (if you used self-adhesive foil on the bottom of your tiles or anything that makes them thicker than the original files, print 2 x core big) 1 x storage piece holder 1 x storage card holder 1 x storage top 1 x storage center (optional: if you used self-adhesive foil on the bottom of your tiles or anything that makes them thicker than the original files, print storage center big) 1 x storage center top (optional) Choose the placeholder parts based on the tiles you have already printed. Check out the picture with the corresponding list to choose the right parts (last two pictures). After printing, follow the steps shown in the pictures to assemble everything inside the box. The storage center part can be used for additional storage like for parts from other scenarios and variants or for the manual. When transporting the box, make sure to grab it by the bottom, not the top... Before printing, please review the information under the printer settings section below! Printer Settings Printer: Prusa i3 (hephestos) & ultimaker 2+ Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.8 mm Infill: 15-30% Notes: I used a fill factor of 30% for all parts to ensure stability. IMPORTANT: Make sure the outer hull is solid and not too thin. If your printer doesn't have a heated bed, you may experience bowing due to first-layer issues. For my prototype, I used bluetape on my bed but it still bowed upwards. Normally, this effect only affects the first layers and is compensated as the print grows taller. This means the bottom of the print is bowed while the top is not. You can see this effect in my prototype pictures. So what can you do? Maybe try an alternative method like 3DLac to keep your print stuck to the bed. If you can't prevent bowing, it's not a disaster. I designed the solution so that it won't affect how you assemble the box afterwards. The result may look a little deformed, but my prototype does too.
