Storage Port Hole Cover / Storage Can for a Cystler Man-O-War Sail Boat
thingiverse
After an eventful day of sailing, I misplaced my truck keys in the boat's storage area. Thankfully, they hadn't fallen into the lake; they were simply hidden in a distant corner of the bow. This led me to realize that my valuables needed more secure storage on the vessel. Thus, I designed this replacement cover for the storage port holes, which comes with a screw-on container that is perfect for storing keys, small parts, and certificates. Although it was created specifically for my boat, it may fit others as well – it's designed to match a 5.1-inch diameter hole with a trim of approximately 6.5 inches (my printer can only cover up to 6 inches, but it hasn't caused any issues). I've included the SolidWorks files if you want to customize the design further. As for waterproofness and buoyancy, I haven't performed a formal test, but I assume it could float in the lake for an extended period if dropped in. When printing, use 2 shells for added water resistance, but no support or rafting is necessary.
