People: A clay jar unearthed in multiple fragments during archaeological digs at Bearsden fort, but now restored to its former glory. Containers like this one likely would have been used for storing food and other essentials in Roman kitchens, rather than cooking itself. The Antonine Wall stretched across Scotland from the Clyde to the Forth. Built around 142 AD, it was occupied for a mere 20 years before being abandoned, leaving behind remnants of its ramparts, deep trenches, forts, and bathhouses that remain visible today. Since 2008, it has been part of the World Heritage Site Frontiers of the Roman Empire. More information on the site can be found at www.antoninewall.org. Reference: F.138047.
