Storage Bin Laptop Stand Author: Donald L. Merand for ExploSource Model Link What Is It? This laptop stand fits into a storage bin and allows you to take your computer, supplies, and other essentials with you wherever you go. At work, I switch desks frequently and want a convenient way to transport everything without having to carry separate bags or containers. We have these storage bins sitting around the office, as well as wall mounts and shelving for them. So, I came up with a portable storage solution that uses what we already have on hand. This design holds a 13-inch Macbook Pro, but you can easily modify it to fit your laptop's dimensions using the fully parametric Onshape source model. How Do I Make One? You'll need a laser cutter and some 6mm thick material like plywood or acrylic to make this stand. You'll also require M3 bolts and nuts - I used 19mm long ones, but you can adjust the design in the Onshape model if you prefer different materials or thicknesses. To get started, download the DXF file from the ExploSource Model Link and convert it into a format compatible with your laser cutter (mine uses PDFs). Note that the attached PDF is for an earlier iteration without cable holes underneath - refer to the CAD rendering for details.
