Storage Battery Caps
thingiverse
These are terminal caps for Interstate RV Deep Cycle Batteries to cover the terminals while they're in storage. The positive terminal post is 2mm larger than the negative post, so these are labeled positive and negative. Note: There are no threads on the screw cap. It's just barely smaller than the screw posts, so I let the screws cut their own threads in the cap. I can still put them on with my fingers. I printed mine in black and red to match conventions. See a need, fill a need... right? I have to take the deep cycle batteries out of my RV for the winter and store them somewhere where they won't freeze. The problem is that the terminals are exposed and don't have protection. The last few years, I put a blanket over the terminals, but I don't want any chance for something to fall on top of the batteries and arc the terminals. So I designed these battery caps for them. They cover the terminal and the screw post and I can now store my batteries for the winter without fear of any accidental discharge as all the metal bits are properly covered.
