This is the first FDA-approved face mask designed specifically for COVID-19. Read the government article here: https://www.governmentciomedia.com/fda-approves-first-3d-printed-mask-covid-19-support. The mask can be found on the Health and Human Services website at this link: https://3dprint.nih.gov/discover/3dpx-013429. This mask was originally designed for high-end fusion printing using Nylon, but I have modified it to work with FDM printers. It was printed in TPU on a Prusa MK3S with tree supports, as shown above. The mask comes in two different sizes and any type of filters can be cut to size (2.25" sq), which is slightly smaller than the outlet. Recommended filters to use are MERV13 air filters and cut-to-fit activated carbon filters, layered together. The mask cover works with both sizes and should be printed vertically, not flat, for maximum strength. However, in testing the cover has been printed flat without any apparent structural loss. I will soon add more support options to allow for printer and material variances. The mask was printed at a layer height of .2 mm with 20% infill using SainSmart TPU at 235C.
