Globe valves, differing from ball valves, are utilized for flow regulation within pipelines. These valves include a movable disk-like element and a stationary ring seat housed in a spherical body. The distinct shape of globe valves is derived from their two split body halves separated by an internal baffle, which features an opening that serves as a seat for the plug. This plug, also known as a disc or disk, can be screwed in to close (or shut) the valve. A stem connects the plug to the globe valve's operation, typically via a handwheel in manual valves, while automated versions employ smooth stems and actuator assemblies for control.
