Stop Sign
thingiverse
I'm eager to learn OpenSCAD and create a couple of stop signs. I plan on mastering filament switches as well, so I can print these signs with a red base and white top or, if I'm feeling lazy, paint the raised border and text white. Included is the scad file, which showcases my design skills. However, it's not customizable due to the font and formulas used, making it impractical to make adjustments. I attempted to make it customizable but realized that for a stop sign, a narrow (tall) font is essential, and unfortunately, the one I chose isn't available here. Specifications: Based on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_sign#Specifications Width = 750mm (100%) Border = 20mm (2.7%) Text Height = 250mm (33%) I simply scaled down these specs to create a unique design. How I Designed This OpenSCAD Designed in OpenSCAD using spheres and some creative math to achieve the desired rotation. It features variables that can be adjusted: sides = number of sides (works up to 12) height = total height of the sign width = diameter of the sphere edge_width = width of the border (default 2.7% of width) txt = the text (default "STOP") txt_font = font to use (default "Lohit Telugu") txt_size = size of the font (defaults to about 59% of width)
With this file you will be able to print Stop Sign with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Stop Sign.
