Stop Extruder Jams!

Stop Extruder Jams!

thingiverse

To eliminate random extruder jams in your 3D printer, consider wrapping a felt pad soaked in oil around your filament guide. This technique was suggested by members of the Makerbot Google group and attendees of Makerfaire, who noticed that lubricating the filament with canola oil prevented jamming without affecting print quality. By using an oil-soaked felt wrap, you reduce friction while continually oiling your filament, which helps to prevent daily maintenance. For best results, use 3-in-1 oil instead of canola oil as it has a higher smoke point and is likely safer for your extruder.
