Stonehenge, an ancient marvel in Wiltshire, England, is a testament to the ingenuity of our ancestors. The monument stands tall with a ring of massive standing stones, each one towering over 13 feet high, seven feet wide and weighing an astonishing 25 tons. These gigantic stones are nestled within earthworks at the heart of England's densest complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments, including hundreds of burial mounds. Archaeologists believe that Stonehenge was constructed between 3000 BC and 2000 BC. One of the most iconic landmarks in the United Kingdom, Stonehenge is a revered symbol of British culture. It has been a protected Scheduled Ancient Monument since 1882, and its site and surroundings were added to UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 1986.
