Stonecutter Mug
thingiverse
I wanted a really good representation of the Stonecutter mug from the Simpsons. I found some online, but they were pretty expensive. I figured I would try my hand at modeling one, and this is what I came up with. I built the whole design around this stainless steel 16 oz. tumbler: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08FT9C13S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 After the print is complete, the cup can be slipped inside of the mug, and your drink will only come in contact with the stainless steel, and not the glue, plastic, and paint used to create the mug. Mine is a very snug fit, so I do not think i will use any adhesive. This will allow me to pull the stainless cup out and run it through the dishwasher. The handle is split it half to make it easier to print. You just need to mirror it in your slicing software, to get two the two halves (they are not symmetrical, so you cannot print two and expect it to work). I glued the two halves of the handle together and installed a heat set insert (10-32) into the two holes. I then used 2 stainless steel 10-32 bolts to bolt the handle to the body of the mug. You can use any type of pin you want to connect the lid to the pivot point. I smoothed with bondo, filler primer, and XTC-3D. I am still in the process of finishing this, so i will post some more pictures when it is complete. This was all designed in inches, so if the parts show up small in your slicing software, just multiply the scale by 25.4 to convert inches to millimeters. Let me know what you think and POST THOSE MAKES!
