Stone Slab Wall

Ancient stone barriers vary greatly from location to location and era to era, shrouded in mystery as to who constructed them and when they were built. The terrain is difficult to access, but these walls could date back to the mid-19th century or even earlier. Constructed for herding cattle, sheep, or deer, these barriers are composed of volcanic stone slabs standing upright, with gaps between filled by stacked flat rocks. This wall remains solid and unbroken from base to crest, potentially extending beyond the hilltop. A secluded clearing near the wall offers a hiding spot for hunters, where they can wait for game passing through and prepare their catch when successful. This site could have served as a seasonal hunting camp or a marker indicating improvements made on land with established deeds.
