Stone mould, Kirkmadrine Church

Stone mould, Kirkmadrine Church

This plain stone appears to be an incomplete relief cross. A similar stone slab was discovered at St Ninian's Cave, a site of Christian pilgrimage, near Whithorn in Dumfries and Galloway. It has also been proposed that the circles could have served as molds for casting rings, but the layout of the three carved features on this stone makes this unlikely.
