Human: Human skulls and trophy heads are prominently displayed on stone markers protruding from ball-court walls. Misleadingly called hachas, which translates to 'axes' in Spanish, these objects often conceal their true purpose. Some of them may have served as molds to craft leather adornments for a ball player's waist belt. The rubber ball used in the game was itself eerily likened to a human head.
