The artifact originates from Cogotí, potentially linked to Inca heritage due to similarities with specimens discovered in the Cuzco region. The Incas expanded their empire, eventually encompassing the Rancagua area in the south. They imposed control over the Diaguita populations residing in Combarbalá, the local inhabitants of that territory. This piece was gifted to our museum by José Manuel Niño de Zepeda during the 19th century. The artifact was digitized by Museo Nacional de Historia Natural de Chile.
