Stone Cone
sketchfab
I took a 3D scan of this impressive stone brick cone, conveniently located just off the bike path south of London. The scan turned out remarkably well. From the optimal viewing angle in the original software, I was able to convincingly present some people with the image as if it were the actual picture of what I had scanned. However, upon rotating the model before their eyes, they soon realized that it was indeed a 3D scan. While it's easier to discern its true nature on Sketchfab due to the way materials interact with lighting in the viewer, the model still looks quite good. I believe it has potential as a nice game environment asset. To bring out its full detail, I plan to target a decimation of 32K and apply a normal map bake.
