Stockmine 43 Tripwire Mine
cults3d
A replica prop of the German Sto.Mi.43/Stockmine 43 (Stick Mine, model 1943) with a Züg-Zunder 42 fuse for mounting tripwire. In response to a diminishing supply of steel, these concrete mines entered service in 1942. They were cast with encased steel fragments, ball bearings, scrap metal, et cetera and then painted in either a dark camouflage green or drab yellow "Dunkelgelb". They were commonly encountered in defensive positions on the Western and Italian front, but were more rare in the East. The design was based on the Soviet POMZ-2 which had proven very simple and effective. The ZZ 42 was in turn more or less a bakelite copy of the MUV-fuse, with the German sprint combining the function of the separate pull-/push-sprints of the MUV. The variant of the fuse adapter I've named "A" was made of all metal, while "B" had Bakelite knurling. I designed this replica to simulate the fuse’s function when fitted with a 7-9 mm diameter compression spring. The stake is mostly for reference or display, you should preferably produce stakes from wooden dowel if you intend to hammer them into ground. They varied a lot in appearance and were generally a bit longer than the Soviet counterpart. The top diameter should be about 30-32 mm.
