Stobs Cross (May 2008)
sketchfab
Possible cup marks discovered on a medieval wayside cross situated on Spitalshield Moor, northeast of Allendale, Northumberland. The cross is classified as a Grade II structure and is documented within the County Historic Environment Record as having two possible cup marks. Excluded from the Beckensall Archive, it was included in ERA by NADRAP as "Stobs Cross" in 2008. The NADRAP team observed: "The cross shaft leans toward the southwest, partially situated within the socket base. Two possible cups are visible on the north face: the central cup measures 0.07 meters in diameter, is 0.01 meter deep, and is severely eroded; the top cup has a 0.04 meter diameter, is 0.01 meter deep, and displays an irregular shape. Their authenticity as prehistoric markings remains uncertain." They don't appear particularly authentic on the 3D model. The imagery forms part of the NADRAP / ERA archive.
